Privacy Policy

What is collected when you visit this site, and what happens to it.

Japan Side Quests is hosted on WordPress.com. This page explains what information is collected when you visit, who it goes to, and what you can do about it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this one records basic technical information about visits: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring site, browser and device type. This is aggregated traffic data used to understand which guides are useful. It is collected by our hosting provider, Automattic, through WordPress.com Stats and Jetpack.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for basic functionality and traffic measurement. If you use the contact form, WordPress may store your name and email address in a cookie so you do not have to retype them. Affiliate partners may also set cookies when you follow a booking link, so that a resulting booking is attributed correctly. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Comments and messages

If you send us a message through the contact form, we keep what you sent along with your email address, so that we can reply. We do not sell it, publish it or use it for marketing.

Advertising

This site is on a free WordPress.com plan, and WordPress.com may display its own advertising to visitors. Those advertisements are served by Automattic and its partners, not by us, and may involve their own cookies and data collection.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. Following one takes you to a third-party site with its own privacy policy, which governs anything you do there. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how this works.

Third parties

The services that can receive data about your visit are our host (Automattic, for hosting and traffic statistics), and any booking platform you choose to click through to. We do not sell personal information to anyone.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Write to us through the form on our Contact page and we will respond.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date below.
