Affiliate Disclosure

How this site earns money, in plain terms.

Some links on Japan Side Quests are affiliate links. If you click one and make a booking or a purchase, we may receive a commission from the retailer or booking platform. You never pay more because of it — the price is the same as it would be if you had gone there directly.

What it does not change

  • Whether a place is included in a guide
  • Where it ranks in a comparison or a set of picks
  • What we write about its drawbacks
  • Whether we mention something we think is a bad deal

Selection and ranking are decided before any booking links are added, using the criteria published inside each guide. Where a recommended place has no affiliate programme at all, it still appears — we simply link to it directly.

How links are marked

Every guide that contains affiliate links says so on the page, and the affiliate links themselves are tagged rel="sponsored" so browsers, search engines and screen readers can identify them as commercial. Our Osaka love hotel guide books through Expedia and Hotels.com under the Expedia Group Travel Creator Program; the note sits at the foot of that guide, next to the image credits.

Commissions and reviews

We do not accept payment, free stays or gifts in exchange for coverage or for a positive write-up. If that ever changes for a specific piece, it will be labelled clearly on that page.
